Company Culture-The Glue That Transforms Vision Into Reality

It takes more than just a good looking body. You’ve got to have the heart and soul to go with it.

A true leader understands that a company’s success depends on the company culture, which in turn is built on the values and philosophies of the founders and leaders. A study was published in the Journal of Organizational Behavior in January 2015 showing that companies with good workplace culture made more profit and fared better overall.

So, what is the secret to creating a good company culture? Making generosity a habit and realizing it’s potential to be an investment.

How to create a “generous” company culture?

The only way to create a feasibly generous company culture is to put your employees before anything or anyone else, even yourself. See the potential in your employees, create jobs for people and not the other way round, value & appreciate your employees, concentrate on employee retention, and bring talent to the forefront. Remember, culture IS your company’s competitive edge.

Grit is required to overcome all odds, and growth is always desired by companies and their employees. Generosity and gratitude, however, is a rare find in companies. The primary goal of a company should be to find the best people, keep them, and show generosity towards them. Be it via compensation, appreciation, or any form deemed fit.

Why is it important to create a strong company culture?

Leaders see their employees as part of the puzzle, not as a means to an end. The moment you choose to become a business owner, a leader, you choose to fight for your employees, give them the best opportunities, and to create a sense of belonging. Offer sensational packages not to make them owe you something but because they deserve it, reward genuine talent, think of them as your equal, and trust in their convictions. All this is a long-term investment that will benefit you both.

When you invest in your employees, you put your trust in them and make them a part of your journey, making your company their company and your success their success. That breeds loyalty. When an employee is loyal, he/she will work in the best interest of the company at all times. This, in turn, will increase productivity and create a sense of duty.

Through good and bad times of the company, these employees will not only stay put but also instill a sense of responsibility and trust among new employees. Instead of the vicious cycle of rotten company culture, a wise decision to invest in your employees will give rise to a virtuous cycle that takes you, your company, and your employees onwards and upwards.

Wrapping it up

Generosity in company culture creates a sense of community, responsibility, and satisfaction, driving collaboration, tolerance, and perseverance. This is what will distinguish you from the others and your company from your competitors. Your employees ARE your company. Don’t just treat them well; give them every opportunity imaginable, and a reason to stay committed to your vision. That’s all you need to succeed.
